History:
January 19, 1993 - ver. 3.0 released with major change in format.
(That no one should notice too much unless a bug crept in...)
Now allows the 2ACT.CFG path\name to be specified on the command
line. Allows a *NO* 2ACT.NAM file option (place an N in the 2ACT.CFG
file instead of filename) for sub-boards either sharing the USERS
file with first account, or just not using aliases. This option
loads a 2nd board assuming all user checks are done by PCB, and
is done to just streamline and speed up entry to that board by
the users. 2ACTSM made more friendly... extended debug available.
All text displayed over COM port echoed to the local screen now.
- This release was the first step in supporting PCB @ codes for
graphics support of message files and PCB environment variables for
the 2ACT.CFG file - to be incorporated later...
December 1, 1992 - ver 2.8 released as an enhancement. Now will
look at subscription expiration date of a User to decide what the
proper User level is to be. 2ACTADD change to ensure large
multi-node BBSs cannot inadvertently place an improper User in
the 2ACT.NAM file.
September 13, 1992 - ver 2.7 released to properly address non-standard
COM ports. 2ACTCVT conversion program no longer included in the
ZIP release. Minimal CALLERS log file entries if desired for
registered versions and BRUN45.EXE no longer required, resulting
in a noticeably faster loading of the second account.
August 31, 1992 - ver 2.6 released to fix a major typo error that
could lock up the COM port when NOT ALLOWED or LOCKED OUT users
accessed 2ACT.
August 26, 1992 - ver 2.5 released to allow non-standard COM ports.
August 21, 1992 - ver 2.4 released to allow modem connections up to
115K. Previously, 19.2K was the maximum. This was also the first step
to allowing non-standard COM port use, which will be incorporated in
the next release to allow use of IRQ 1-15. Nag screens added to
unregistered versions. Changes made to enhance Callers log entries.
Desqview now also works without error with Second Account!
Apologies there was such a lag releasing this version, due to personal
commitments elsewhere. A couple enhancements are planned soon again.
December 2, 1991 - ver.2.3 released account of an error found when used
with PCBoard 14.0 - 14.2. Also corrected the problem of reading an
editor altered PWRD file (not the same format as saved by PCBSetup).
November 30, 1991 - ver.2.2 (still) - released as 2ACT22A.ZIP
Enhanced the 2ACTSM.EXE System Manager program. Also, a little clean
up of the docs, as so many people had a problem reading them before?
A CLEAN PCBTEXT file has been included, ready to use! The docs now
clearly show the changes made compared to the 14.5a release version.
October 26, 1991 - ver.2.2 - Added a feature meant for 3.0, the ability
to do a check in the calling BAT file if it is the first time in for
the day for a User. This is meant only for PCBoard 14.5a+ use, and
can be used to force the User to read NEWS files, new messages, etc.
the first time entered each day.
Also, minor changes to the 2ACTSM for appearance sake via Doorway.
October 20, 1991 - ver 2.1 - First non-test version release, 2ACT21.ZIP
Includes a fix for a problem not always handling LOCKed or not ALLOWed
users properly. Additions to the docs as seen needed.
October 6, 1991 - ver.2.0 beta, as 2ACT20A.ZIP
Inadvertently, the wrong 2ACTSM.EXE and 2ACT.EXE were previously
included in the ZIP - no problem, however a number of debug purpose
statements were included in that ZIP, annoying and slow
October 5, 1991 - ver.2.0 beta release
September 25, 1991 - ver.2.0 (local beta)
A complete re-write, changes format, security, maintenance, etc
September 15, 1991 - ver.1.2 beta
Network relative fix for NEWGUY file
September 14, 1991 - ver.1.2 beta
Network fix
September 11, 1991 - ver.1.2 beta
Major typo occurred in 2 places - this is a fix.
The previous version docs showed the command line and the LOCK parameters
flip flopped in position in the .CFG file.
September 10, 1991 - ver.1.1 beta
Major change in error handling, to insure all errors are trapped properly
to be located in source code, and any errors occurring will properly exit
and reload the first account.
A locking parameter is also now expected in the PCB2ACT.CFG file, to
prevent anyone barred from the second PCB account from entering.
Date Unknown (Jan 91?) - ver.1.0 alpha/beta
I threw together PCB2ACT real fast for use on my BBS...No regard for
error handling, control, etc.
